A good hour of unreleased music as a part of the 0-0-0 project :
“0-0-0 is a newly activated cyberspace ready to become a sharing area for sound creations and a cartography of relations between inviting and invited artists.
With this portal, 0-0-0 questions the modalities of sound materials circulation on the internet. We seek to develop a way to discover and render audible works made by people we do not know. To make this possible, we have developed a decentralised invitation protocol, managed by humans. Within the 0-0-0 team, we share an interest in experimental music practices and the ways in which independent scenes are organised. We feel the need to test the possibilities of a platform where decision-making powers are decentralised. We have developed a site that is neither automated nor driven by commercial approach. With 0-0-0, we try to bypass the algorithmic logic that proposes content based on the theft of personal data.
Artists that have been invited to participate in this experiment can upload a single audio file and invite up to three people to in turn do the same. Each of these people can then upload an audio file and invite three other people and so on. We are confident that this platform will be more exciting this way. However, if the activity drops too much, we will allow ourselves to invite other people just to start new branches. We will see.
In practical terms, this process is displayed as a graph. This expanding arborescence maps the relationships between people. Each node of the graph represents an artist and is linked by a branch to their invitations. In other words, the idea is to easily visualise who wants us to hear who and to establish curatorial transparency. And finally, we hope that these branches will develop for as long as possible.”
Thx to Laurent Güdel for the invitation.
